Cataclysm Daily Quests: Therazane

The Cataclysm expansion added thousands of new quests, and among these were quite a few new daily quests with which players can raise various reputations and earn some gold. I’ll admit, I’m not particularly impressed with the monetary gain from these quests, as most quests award around 10 or so, but I can tell that these quests were added as an alternate means of raising reputations without having to grind dungeons with the appropriate tabard on. That being said, I thought I’d take a look at the daily quests added for various factions with this expansion, starting with the big momma herself, Therazane!

The Therazane faction (and it’s dailies) will not become available until a significant amount of questing in Deepholm has been completed. You will first start earning Therazane reputation from quests upon completion of Rocky Relations. By the time you complete all of the necessary quests in Deepholm to unlock the dailies, you will be Honored with Therazane. From there, you can do daily quests for a total of 1850 reputation per day and you can use the Tabard of Therazane to gain further reputation in Cataclysm dungeons.

Therazane Daily Quests

There are five daily quests which are available every day, with another being selected at random. Once you have reached Revered reputation, a total of seven quests will be available each day, two of which are selected at random.

Fungal Fury

Start & End: Gorsik the Tumultuous
Rewards: 250 reputation with Therazane, 10 46 at level 85
This daily quest is extremely simple – all you have to do is head out to the Crimson Expanse, southeast of Therazane’s Throne and right-click 10 mushrooms! The mushrooms for the quest can be found all around the ground and sparkle like normal quest items do. Killing Doomshroom do not count for this quest.

This quest even has a related achievement, Fungal Frenzy! To obtain this achievement, simply find and identify the four types of mushrooms required and right-click them to obtain the necessary buffs. You should first activate Poolstool, Shuffletruffle and a Shrinkshroom, as they will each give a 2 minute debuff upon being activated. Once you have obtained the three debuffs, simply find a Trapcap and activate it (which will explode and knock you back) and you’ll get the achievement!

Soft Rock

Start & End: Gorsik the Tumultuous
Rewards: 250 reputation with Therazane, 10 46 at level 85
This quest takes place in the Crimson Expanse as well, and all you have to do is kill 8 Fungal Behemoth which roam the area. Nothing important to mention here other than their mildly annoying Shroom Stomp ability.

Through Persistence

Start & End: Ruberick
Rewards: 250 reputation with Therazane, 10 46 at level 85
This quest currently displays a misleading objective point in game, the area you need to be in to complete this quest is actually the Verlok Stand, which is a raised platform above the Crimson Expanse. Up here, you’ll find a bunch of creepy lil stone troggs, which you simply kill until the Bag of Verlok Miracle-Grow drops. There’s a bit of speculation over whether or not certain mobs have a higher chance to drop it, but all I’m gonna say is that when I flew out there to test it out, I picked a Verlok Shroomtender at random, killed it and it dropped the quest item. Your mileage may vary.

Fear of Boring

Start & End: Felsen the Enduring
Rewards: 250 reputation with Therazane, 10 46 at level 85
This quest has you head out over to the Crumbling Depths, the massive series of tunnels located just below Therazane’s Throne. If you have other quests inside the Depths (which you probably do), you may opt to kill the Gyreworm found inside the caves while doing those, though they may be harder to come across on a high population server. You can instead opt to hang out around the entrance to the Depths and kill the Gyreworms as they spawn. Simply kill 10 of them and you’re done.

Motes

Start & End: Felsen the Enduring
Rewards: 250 reputation with Therazane, 10 46 at level 85
This quest takes you inside the Crumbling Depths, where you must search for small green, sparkling crystals formed on the ground along the cavern walls. This is a relatively simple quest as often there’s not very much to kill inside the caverns, but it may be a bit annoying on higher population servers waiting for crystals to spawn. Loot 10 of the crystals and you’re done.

In addition to the quests above, one random quest from this list of three will be available each day, with objective(s) in the Crumbling Depths. There is no guarantee that you will be able to get a certain quest on any particular day.

Beneath the Surface

Start & End: Felsen the Enduring
Rewards: 250 reputation with Therazane, 10 46 at level 85
This quest takes place inside the Crumbling Depths, and actually has its quest objective marked on the minimap with a skull. Once inside, you must enter one of the short dead end tunnels and attempt to loot the Ruby Gemstone Cluster found at the end. Surprise, it’s actually a Enormous Gyreworm! Kill the worm and loot your Ruby Crystal Cluster

.

Lost In The Deeps

Start & End: Pyrite Stonetender
Rewards: 250 reputation with Therazane, 10 46 at level 85
This quest takes place inside the Crumbling Depths, where you must locate the tiny elemental Pebble and escort him out of the tunnels. There were pathing issues with this quest at Cataclysm launch which have been fixed, so you shouldn’t have much trouble with the little guy following you out. Simply locate him (comments say he can be found at 63,21) and head back out of the tunnel, avoiding the Colossal Gyreworm on your way out. Once you reach the exit of the cave, be sure to wait for the quest to complete and head back.

There is an achievement associated with this quest, Rock Lover – all you have to do is complete this daily quest 10 times and you’ll be rewarded with a Pebble of your own! The only difficult part in this is in waiting for it to become available, as it is a random daily!

Underground Economy

Start & End: Ricket
Rewards: 250 reputation with Therazane, 10 46 at level 85
This quest takes place in the Crumbling Depths, where you must use the provided Ricket’s Tickers on large, colored crystal blocks and collect the crystal fragments that appear on the ground. You need three of each color fragment, and each room has a different hue (and mobs) that correspond with the color crystal you’ll be able to collect. Simply find the huge blocks, blow ’em up, and loot the fragments.

Once you have reached Revered reputation with Therazane, two more quests will unlock, one of which will be available at random each day.

Glop, Son of Glop

Start & End: Ruberick
Rewards: 350 reputation with Therazane, 17 20 at level 85
This notoriously nightmarishly buggy quest takes place at the Fungal Deep, a cave (entrance found at 68, 29) right between the Verlok Stand and Crimson Expanse. Allegedly it’s not so buggy anymore, it hasn’t come up for me so I’m unable to test it for myself. Head into the cave and seek out Fungalmancer Glop, and defeat him. It’s a pretty annoying encounter as he just runs around the entire time but he’ll inevitably die and it’ll all be over with. It’s worth mentioning that unlike the Wrath of the Fungalmancer quest, interacting with Earthmender Norsala is no longer required in order to complete this quest. You also don’t even have to have the tag on the boss, just help kill Fungalmancer Glop and you will get credit for defeating the mob.

There is an achievement associated with this quest, Fungalophobia, which requires you to avoid the Boomshroom Fungalmancer Glop will cast. Don’t get hit by the shrooms, defeat Fungalmancer Glop and you should get your achievement!

The Restless Brood

Start & End: Terrath the Steady
Rewards: 350 reputation with Therazane, 17 20 at level 85
This quest takes place at the western most edge of the Pale Roost, where you will find the large Pale Resonating Crystal required for summoning Aeosera. Simply strike the crystal with your Stonework Mallet and fly up to the topmost rocks and jump onto them. Aeosera will appear, simply kill her while avoiding her Searing Breath by jumping to different rocks. Once her health gets low, she will submit and the rocks will lower to the ground. Terrath the Steady should then run up and you can turn in the quest, though he never does for me and I always have to fly back to Therazane’s Throne. He must not like me. 😦

There is an achievement associated with this quest, My Very Own Broodmother, which requires you to complete the quest within 90 seconds of striking the Pale Resonating Crystal. Apparently you can simply cheese this achievement by summonining and killing the dragon like normal, then striking the crystal again and turning in the quest. Obviously, if this doesn’t work or gets fixed you’ll simply have to kill her in the appropriate amount of time and turn it in. Good luck!
