5.2 PTR – Build 16486 – New Archaeology Race, Legendary Meta Gems, and More

The PTR just went down for maintenance, and in the meantime, there is a new patch build! There’s a new archaeology race, legendary meta gems, 3D models of cute frog battle pets, and several new mounts!

Patch Highlights

  •  Crown of Heaven is the reward for completing the legendary chain in 5.2–a special legendary meta gem. It has outdated tooltip text right now, but we found some legendary gems that could go in it:
  • New title for defeating  Heroic: Lei ShenStorm’s End.
  • This ring doubles as a hearth to the Brawler’s Guild!  The Brassiest Knuckle /  The Brassiest Knuckle.
  • New Mounts:
    •  Reins of the Thundering Cobolt Cloud Serpent: Teaches you how to summon this mount. This is a flying mount. Requires Cloud Serpent Riding from the Order of the Cloud Serpent.
    •  Sky Claw Engineering Mount: Mount a Sky Claw copter, allowing you to fly very fast and carry an ally. This is a flying mount.
    •  Clutch of Ji-Kun: Teaches you how to summon this mount. This is a flying mount.
    •  Armored Bloodwing: Teaches you how to summon this mount. The capabilities of this mount depend on your Riding skill and location.
  • New Monk Specialization:  Muscle Memory. When you successfully Jab or damage at least 3 enemies with Spinning Crane Kick, you gain Muscle Memory, increasing the damage of your next Tiger Palm or Blackout Kick by 200%.
  • New epics made by Tailors:  Imperial Cowl Imperial Sandals.
  • New PvP enchant:  Enchant Weapon – Glorious Tyranny. Permanently enchants a melee weapon to increase your PVP Power by 400 and your Resilience by 475.
  • New Battle pets–Mumper has confirmed on twitter that they’re from fishing in different Pandaria zones Tiny Blue Carp Tiny Green Carp Tiny Red Carp Tiny White Carp
  • Engineers are getting even more profession love this patch–they can enhance  Portable Refrigerator with  Advanced Refrigeration Unit, and create the adorable cooking pet  Pierre.
  • Several achievements for obtaining seasonal battle pets now correctly reflect that players achieve this when completing a quest chain, instead of purchasing a pet from the AH.
  • New Faction: Shado-Pan Assault
  • Glyph of Desperation and Glyph of Inner Focus are gone. They are replaced with:
    • Glyph of Binding Heal: Your Binding Heal spell now heals a third nearby friendly target, but costs 35% more mana.
    • Glyph of Weakened Soul: Reduces the duration of the Weakened Soul effect caused by Power Word: Shield by 2 sec.
  • Glyph of Overpower is gone and replaced with Glyph of Die by the Sword: While Die by the Sword is active, using Overpower increases its duration by 1 sec and using Wild Strike increases its duration by 2 sec per use.

New Archaeology Branch: Mantid

A new archaeology branch was datamined, with projects and runestones–it’s the Mantid!

Set Bonus Changes

  •  Item – Death Knight T14 DPS 2P Bonus: Your Obliterate, Frost Strike, and Scourge Strike deal 10%4% increased damage.
  •  Item – Death Knight T15 DPS 4P Bonus: Increases the duration of Army of the Dead by 15 sec.Your Soul Reaper ability now deals additional Shadow Damage to targets below 45% instead of below 35%. Additionally, Killing Machine now also increases the critical strike chance of Soul Reaper.
  •  Item – Druid PvP Set Feral 4P Bonus: Once every 30 sec, your next Ravage is free and has no positional or stealth requirement. Additionally, when you successfully interrupt with Skull Bash, the cooldown of your Enrage is reset.
  •  Item – Druid T15 Feral 2P Bonus: Predatory Swiftness grants you an additional combo point on your current combo target when consumed.Gives your finishing moves a 0 + (15 * ComboPoints)% chance per combo point to add a combo point to your target.
  •  Item – Druid T15 Feral 4P Bonus: After using Tiger’s Fury, you gain 40% increased critical strike chance on the next 3 uses of Mangle, Shred, or Ferocious Bite.Ferocious Bite, Ravage, and Swipe.
  •  Item – Hunter T15 4P Bonus: Your Arcane Shot, and Multi-shotMulti-shot, and Aimed Shot have a chance to trigger a Lightning Arrow at the target, dealing 100% weapon damage as nature.
  •  Item – Paladin T15 Retribution 4P Bonus: Your Crusader Strike has a 40% chance to make your next Templar’sTemplar’sVerdict deal all Holy damage.

  •  Item – Shaman T15 Enhancement 2P Bonus: Unleash ElementsYour Stormstrike also grants you 3 additional charges2 additional charge of Maelstrom Weapon.
  •  Item – Shaman T15 Restoration 2P Bonus: Your Healing Stream Totem now heals an additional target for 50%25% of its normal amount.
  •  Item – Warlock T15 DPS 2P Bonus: While Dark Soul is active, your chance to trigger NightfallHaunt’s duration is increased by30%2 sec, Chaos Bolt and Shadowburn consume 20% less Embers, and abilities cost 30% less Demonic Fury.
  •  Item – Warlock T15 DPS 4P Bonus: Your Malefic Grasp and Drain Soul deal 5% more periodic damage, your Incinerate has a 8% chance to generate twice the normal Embers, and your Shadow Bolt and Soul Fire grant 5%spells generate 10% more Demonic Fury.

  •  Brewmaster Training: You become adept in the ways of the Brewmaster, amplifying four of your abilities. Spear Hand Strike Spear Hand Strike no longer costs Energy. Fortifying Brew Also increases your Stagger amount by 20% while active. Tiger Palm Tiger Palm no longer costs Chi, and when you deal damage with Tiger Palm the amount of your next Guard is increased by 15%. Lasts 30 sec.   •  Teachings of the Monastery: You become adept in the ways of the Mistweaver, amplifying threefive of your abilities. Blackout KickCrackling Jade Lightning Damage increased by 100%. Tiger Palm Damage increased by 100%. Blackout Kick Blackout Kick also hits 4 additional nearby targets for 50% damage. When you Blackout Kick, you gain Serpent’s Zeal causing you to heal nearby injured targets equal to 25% of your auto-attack damage. Stacks up to 2 times. Surging Mist When you Tiger Palm, you gain Vital Mists reducing the cast time and mana cost of your next Surging Mist by 20%. Stacks up to 5 times. Lasts 30 sec. Spinning Crane Kick While channeling Spinning Crane Kick, you also heal nearby injured allies for 2809 every 0.75 sec for 2 sec. Healing yourself does not count for Chi generation.
